Karen is a very heartfelt person who treats her clients with empathy, compassion and a vast amount of knowledge. She was able to help me work through some dietary challenges, supplying me with a rich assortment of recipes to support me, and giving me additional ideas to use in my quest for a healthier lifestyle. Additionally she listened to my issues regarding my significant other and my concerns about work. Her presence creates a sacred space for you to be you, to unload whatever you need to unload, and to address your issues fully and completely. She is a joy to work with!

A friend (my acupuncturist) suggested that I meet with Karen when I reached a point in my life where I was overwhelmed by health issues. Nothing that warranted seeing a doctor, as I had seen them multiple times already, but enough to make my life very difficult. I had gained quite a bit of weight due to dealing with the after effects of a failed back surgery. I was suffering with pain in what seemed like every joint in my body. My blood pressure was through the roof. I was having a variety of Gastro issues. And fatigue was crushing me. I felt like I couldn’t think straight I was so tired. I was exercising to the level that was comfortable for me, but obviously wasn’t enough and I thought I was eating healthily. I was starting to be depressed about the whole thing. I was only 51 and I felt like there was nothing ahead for me except, pain and frustration.
The first time I met with Karen I felt like she was that friend we all have that even though we haven’t seen each other in awhile, we just pick up where we left off. Every time we met, Karen would offer information about healthy foods and lifestyles and then she would gently challenge me to try out the information she had given me. If I didn’t want to try something or was uncomfortable with it, Karen never pushed. But I usually gave everything a try as Karen presented the information in such a way that it made too much sense not to try.
It was through Karen’s guidance that I came to realize I was “gluten sensitive”. I have since eliminated gluten from my diet. Within a week’s time, I was completely off gluten and my digestion felt the best it had in years, not to mention the insane fatigue was gone. I have with Karen’s support eliminated all meat and dairy products (with the exception of goat cheese and seafood, I love crab and fish too much to give it up). I have seen my blood pressure return to normal. My pain is now in the manageable range and I have been able to increase my exercising.
If you had told me a year ago that I would be eating gluten free, meat free, dairy free, caffeine free and having Brussels sprouts, quinoa, kale and sweetening my herbal tea with agave nectar I would have thought you were crazy. But Karen’s gentle, well informed guidance put me on the path to feeling good again, and for me there is no turning back.

Karen introduced me to many new foods that I was not familiar with in exciting, delicious ways. She also showed me how to better manage daily stress and her methods have become a treat for me at the end of the day! Karen is a great listener and helped me to look at some aspects of my life from a different point of view. As a result I feel that I have grown from our conversations and I would highly recommend her to anyone.
